The Embassy of Zimbabwe facilitated the visit to Iran by a Zimbabwe business delegation in the health sector. The team engaged various Iranian companies in  to explore opportunities for trade and investment in areas such as pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. While in Iran, the delegation toured production facilities of iranian companies and exchanged views on possible projects that can be exploited for the benefit of the two countries.

Zimbabwean and Iranian see potential for investments in various fields including trade in pharmaceutical products as well as joint manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. Cooperation in the health sector is guided by the signed MoU on Cooperation in the Health Sector which was signed in February 2023 by the Ministers of Health from the respective countries.

The subsequent MoU between the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe and its counterpart, the Iran Food and Drug Authority signed in July 2023, is poised to unlock the latent value of trade and investment in the pharmaceutical sector between the two countries. 

Mission is ready to assist companies in Zimbabwe and Iran who want to benefit from the opportunities abound in the medical sector in both countries.
